Tess and Matthew 3rd Day : Had a late start today. I guess we are all getting a but tired from all the touristing. The day started with a late breakfast and Matthew kicking the ball in the backyard. Then it was off to UBC/beach area with a quick stop at McDonalds. We stopped at Jericho Beach to take some photos with Downtown Vancouver in the background and also the mountains. Then it was off to the Capilano Salmon Hatchery. After that it was off to Lynn Canyon and accross the suspension bridge. We had pho at a Vietnamese Restaurant and then made a quick trip to Superstore. Matthew really wanted to go and but a hot wheel.

Burnaby Lake Revisited : I went back to Burnaby Lake today again after dropping off Yolly and Ashley at Metrotown. I decided to go to the opposite side of the lake and there I found that there is a path that goes around the whole lake. I figure that would take about 4 hours to complete as it took me an hour to walk a short distance around the lake. Of course this involved going off the main path from time to time and also taking photos as I felt. The lighting was not good as it was midday but I shot some anyway. I saw some birds, ducks and herons about but I had forgotten my long lens so I wan unable to take photos of them. Here is the link to a previous visit: http://reyeslp.smugmug.com/gallery/1592130 .

birds at the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary : It was quite surprising that the birds we got close to were the smaller birds. I would like to come back and hopefully take pictures of the herons and the sandhill cranes. This was a difficult place to shoot as it has so many facets. There is not only the wildlife but also the landscape and even macro opportunities in the form of dragon flies, spiders and flowers.

After the doctor's appt it was back to school, home again and then picked up no.2 from school. Then it was off to dance school with her and then back to no.1's school so I could also take her to dance school. We got there about the time that no.2 was finishing her first class so I then took her to Sushi-go for a bite to eat. Back to the dance school and then I roamed around the island a tried to shoot a bit. good hair day : Went to downtown Vancouver and dropped off Yolly at the hair salon. I went to Stanley Park to look at a couple of spots I haven't been to. It was overcast but I enjoyed the cool weather and walking around.

view of the city : This was the view from the restaurant. We had had the snow in the mountains and rain in the city. As we drive towards downtown, we always get a beautiful view of the city and the mountains in the background. Unfortunately I was unable to take pictures while on the road. Many times, I point the sights to the 2 girls as we go to their dance classes.

sunset at Sunset Beach : We have had 2 sunny days in a row and it seems like such a long time since we've had any. The flowers are all blooming and I managed to catch this glorious sunset.

Yolly's garden : Yolly planted these tulips last November I think when it was cold and gray. We have had mostly rain for what seems like forever and a day of sun here and there. We had another sunny day today (April 4, 2006) and the tulips and other flowers that Yolly had planted were in full bloom. What a wonderful sight it was with all the beautiful colors. We have had just too many gray days.

a sunny day at queen elizabeth park : Walked around the park a bit. It was a nice sunny day. We had a wonderful lunch at the Seasons Hill Top Bistro, who have had Yeltsin, Clinton and McLachlan as guests. Had a wonderful view of the city and the Seafood Penne and Hunan Pork Sandwich was excellent. The mable chocolate cheesecake was out of this world. Got to start a diet today. http://www.vancouverdine.com/seasons/home.html

Signs of Spring 2006 : The cherry blossoms are blooming all over the city. So are the daffodils and tulips. It is still raining quite a bit but the sun comes out more frequently. Time to walk around and smell the flowers!

Las Vegas Thanksgiving : Went to Las Vegas to be with Ben and Mom. Spent most of the time hanging around the casinos but got the chance to see Red Rock and Lake Mead when I stayed behind an extra day. Stayed with our good friend Ernie (who bailed me out when I couldn't find a hotel room anywhere).
